For anyone at the start of their dyslexia journey…
My son was diagnosed in Dec 2020. We have always had books in the house, school also sent them home but it was hard work and a fight to get anything read at all. We actually started TBT two months before the diagnosis and have ploughed through little by little (only a few minutes a day).
We are close to the end, now. I bought my son a Beano subscription in February and he has loved them and diligently read them and discussed with his brother who is an avid reader.
Today, finally, a book picked by him and being devoured, laughed at and most of all enjoyed. There have been some dark days on this journey so far, tears, frustration and arguments all over reading, which should be a pleasure. For anyone in that place, at the start of TBT, in the first 100 pages, in the midst of arguments, struggles and tears please know there is hope.
The winner is the tortoise not the hare and the ultimate prize the joy of reading.
